Here are the facts about Sunny D!
Sunny D has one Original flavour, Florida Original. In reinventing Sunny D we have reduced the sugar in Florida Original from 8.6g per 100ml to 7.4g per 100ml. That means that Sunny D has at least 25% less sugar and 20% fewer calories than Robinson's Fruit Shoot Apple and Blackcurrant with 14g of sugar per 100ml and Ribena Blackcurrant with 12.1g of sugar per 100ml.
For mums who prefer no added sugar (NAS), Sunny D has three NAS flavours. These are Florida NAS, California NAS and new Orange and Pineapple. The sugars in food damage our teeth because they feed bacteria in plaque which cause tooth decay however, NAS varieties of Sunny D mean there's no sugar to feed the bacteria. However, the most important way to prevent tooth decay is to brush twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste.
Sunny D has two preservatives (polyphosphate and potassium sorbate). Both are common to soft drinks and are there to help keep Sunny D fresh and in optimum condition.
A single glass of Sunny D contains a child's full days allowance of vitamin C in just one 200ml glass. Sunny D also has a third of the daily requirement of vitamin A, vitamin B1 and vitamin B6 so has some of the other important vitamins children need built in.
To protect the important vitamins in Sunny D, and to keep it's great taste, Sunny D does need to be refrigerated. However, it is OK to put Sunny D in a lunchbox as it will only be out of the fridge for a few hours.
Sunny D is a soft juice drink which contains 15% real fruit juice. Each variety contains a different mixture of the following fruit juices: orange, lime, mandarin, grapefruit, apple, pear, pineapple and passionfruit. |
